AIM Specifications (ISS)
Back
ISS - Maxicode - AIM BC10 OBSOLETE
THIS DOCUMENT IS NOT CURRENT. AIM BC10 ISS - MaxiCode contains historical information that is referenced in ISO/IEC 16023:2000-Maxicode. Those who wish to implement MaxiCode should follow the ISO document (SO/IEC 16023:2000-Maxicode). This AIM document is appropriate for someone who has historical interest in the MaxiCode specification. This specification defines the requirements for the symbology known as MaxiCode. It specifies the MaxiCode symbology characteristics, data character encodation, symbol formats, dimensions and print quality requirements, error correction rules, decoding algorithm, and user-selectable application parameters. MaxiCode is a two-dimensional matrix symbology containing a fixed number of dark and light hexagonal modules. The symbol is specified to be a fixed size. MaxiCode has a bulls eye finder pattern in the center of the symbol. A two-dimensional device such as a CCD camera is necessary to scan the symbology. MaxiCode is designed with two selectable levels of error correction capability. It supports industry standard escape sequences to define international code pages and special encodation schemes. MaxiCode is used to encode address and customer specified data on shipping packages which are scanned on high-speed conveyors. This is the AIM specification.
