ISS DotCode Symbology Specification 4.0 DotCode is a rectangular matrix symbology designed to produce machine-readable coding with existing high-speed industrial printing equipment. DotCode is ideally suited for high-speed industrial ink jet and laser marking because it does not require continuous lines or touching elements. This specification defines the requirements for the symbology known as DotCode. It specifies the DotCode symbology characteristics including data character encodation, rules for error control encoding, the graphical symbol structure, symbol dimensions and print quality requirements, a reference decoding algorithm, and user-selectable application parameters. The available DotCode Encoder is a set of files, including source code, that enable the user to produce DotCode symbols.
NOTE: DotCode Revision 4.0 is the latest version of the DotCode standard and it contains substantial changes to address deficiencies that were discovered through extensive testing of earlier revisions of DotCode. Implementations that are not restricted to a particular revision of DotCode should choose DotCode Revision 4.0. AIM strongly suggests that regulations and applications that stipulate Revision 3.0 or prior should be updated to reflect the latest version of the standard.
